Extract NEXPA

Along the style of a NEIPA but with a lower OG and slightly bittered, with no attention to water chemistry. Recipe has been built as a way to use up some extract prior to going all grain.

Mash

The initial layout of the recipe is in Brewfather.

  • 1.5kg can Extra Light Malt Extract

  • 1.5kg can Wheat Malt Extract

  • 400g light DME

  • 300g rolled oats

  • 200g Dextrose

  • 200g Carapils

The oats and carapils were mini-mashed for around 60 minutes in about 6L of water @ 67ish.

Boil

A short boil of 20 minutes

  • 30g chinook @ 20m

  • Drop temp to ~80

  • 20g Citra, 20g Columbus hopstand for 20m

Fermentation

Pitched with US05 - fermentation around 20-22C (no temperature controlled fridge here!) at around 20psi.

Dry hopped through the top after 2 days

  • 50g citra

  • 30g columbus

Wrapped up after 5 days!

First run of the iSpindel - turns out I'd boned the calibration so was only useful for temperature this time around.

Need to figure out how to take photos...
